Ring Garnet

Which is better in a ring – Garnet coloured cubic zirconias or natural garnets?
I have bought my boyfriend a sterling silver ring that has white cubic zirconias in. It contains 1 round stone that is 5mm diameter. there are 7 more round stones that are 2mm each in diameter. We want to change these white stones for red ones – not rubies! We were thinking either garnet coloured cubic zirconias, or natural garnets. We dont care about how ‘genuine’ the gems are. we are more concerned with sparkle, good colour and stones that are hard wearing. which is better for this? natural garnets or red cubics?
i think cubics would be better…there’re harder than garnets, almost as hard as diamonds. they’re pretty good sparkle wise as well. i mean, they’re used like artificial diamonds and if they’re to substitute the sparkli -est gem of them all, they’ve gotta be pretty shiny, right?
