Ring Oval

What bit would be the best for my thoroughbred?
I was using a corkscrew D ring on him but it became to strong because he would tuck his nose in instead of lowering his head. So now im using a D ring oval link and he gives contact some of the time but usually doesn’t and he hangs in the bit i have tired to do use different techniques with this bit to make it work but nothing helps. Would a pelham work? I do hunter jumpers so it needs to be an english bit.
My TB lease gelding goes really well in a boucher. It’s an elevator bit, so it encourages the horse to come onto the bit and hold himself up. You get a little bit of leverage, and you shouldn’t have to be too strong with your hands for the horse to respect it.
We also jump my TB in a pelham, so the boucher works for him on the flat, and then the pelham for jumping. You might want to try out the boucher for both first because your horse might not need something like a pelham. (My gelding has a pretty hard mouth.)
